Ryan Walters, property consultant with Noovimo, presents this property in the commune of Mauprévoir: Steeped in local history and beautifully presented throughout, this charming detached home offers a rare opportunity to own the former railway gatekeeper's house, situated in the peaceful hamlet of Logerie, just outside the popular village of Mauprévoir in the Vienne department.
Originally built to serve the former railway crossing, the property has been thoughtfully updated for modern living while retaining the warmth and character that make period homes so desirable. The former railway line has long since become a peaceful green corridor, providing an attractive backdrop and a fascinating reminder of the property's heritage.
The heart of the home is the beautifully refitted farmhouse-style kitchen, thoughtfully designed with an extensive range of shaker units, generous work surfaces and ample space for dining. Overlooking the gardens, it provides a bright and sociable space that is equally suited to everyday family life and entertaining guests.
From the kitchen, the accommodation flows into the welcoming living room, where original wooden flooring, a wood-burning stove and air conditioning combine traditional charm with modern comfort, creating a cosy retreat throughout the seasons.
The bedrooms are bright, spacious and tastefully decorated, each retaining the character of the property while offering comfortable accommodation. A contemporary shower room features a large walk-in shower and quality fittings, complemented by a stylish separate WC.
Outside, mature enclosed gardens surround the property, offering a wonderful sense of privacy. The generous elevated terrace overlooks the beautifully maintained grounds and provides the perfect place to dine outdoors, entertain friends or simply relax whilst enjoying the peaceful countryside. A garage and off-road parking complete the property.
Situated just a few minutes from the centre of Mauprévoir, the property benefits from a bakery, supermarket, pharmacy, restaurant and primary school, with the larger market town of Civray approximately 15 minutes away. Poitiers Airport is around one hour away, while Limoges Airport can be reached in approximately one hour and fifteen minutes.
Combining a fascinating railway heritage with modern comforts, spacious gardens and a peaceful rural setting, this former gatekeeper's house offers a unique opportunity to own a home with both character and a story to tell.
